The controls reminded me of a discussion we once had about interfaces for the elderly (with Pete Bagnall and others, Pete is ex-MReser and perpetual PhD-er in the dept. doing tablet-based communication interfaces for the elderly). I wondered about instead of having a single remote, instead having a plastic shopping bag full of different controls, all wth nice big uttons: one a siple on/off, another a channel changer, another old tape-recorder like controls (that reveal theor state intrinsically) for VCR. You reach in, grab the control you want ...

Re: 30th Anniversary of Winterland

thank youuuuu

Re: Jon Burgerman

I did think about above comment spam, although they know my obsession with iPods so I've decided to let it pass. If you search 'weather South Shields' on the bbc.co.uk site, the results aren't exactly predictable.

I understand that majority of users will use the search box for weather information, but for those that choose the outlined method above, accessibility should have been carefully considered. The site isn't failing (unless your town isn't on there), it can just be greatly improved...

Or if you have sky+, and are organized to leave a 15 min buffer before starting to view, the fast forward button helps you skip all the ads in a 1 hour program.

Re: Usability in Remote Controls

I'm interested to know if you read my post on holiday then took this photo, read my post then went on holiday or just took the photo of the remote because it interested you?

The top of the remote i.e. the regular location of the power button and other everyday utilities being replaced by large "Menu" and "Order" controls.

Though I guess it would depend on the nature of the news you require and the things you were interested in, in the first place. Perhaps such things could be derived from the stats of your previous tweets e.g. the frequency of certain words occuring(iphone,wordpress...) correlating to your interest in that particular area(mobile phones,blogging...)?

Re: Magic Highlights Tour

You aren't kidding it's expensive. You'd think they would put loads of tracks on there given they aren't losing anything and the profits go to charity.
